3rd, 4th, 5th together. Then 6th, 7th, 8th together. Both on different fields.

2022 Boys BYL Fall Sessions (5th-8th graders)
Sundays, October 23, October 30, November 6, November 13, November 20
BHS Varsity Head Coach Mike Bassani and BHS players to lead
Two 1 hour sessions each day: one for 5/6 (10AM-11AM) and one for 7/8 (11AM-12PM)
Each session focuses on different skill/position:
Week 1 - Dodging
Week 2 - Shooting
Week 3 - Defense/Riding
Week 4 - Picks and 2-men games
Week 5 - Unsettled Situations
$75 registration fee
2022 Boys BYL Fall Sessions (1st-4th graders)

1st /2nd focus is on introducing sport, sticks and tennis balls provided, no gear needed
3rd /4th focus is on passing/catching/defense/shooting and will end with scrimmages, full gear

Boys Youth Lacrosse Summer Camp
Grades: 1 – 7 based on 2021-2022 school year
Dates: June 13-15, 2022 (June 16 rain date if needed)
Time: 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Location: Cassingham Turf Field
Instructor: Mike Bassani, BHS Head Coach
Fee: $80
The camp will focus on teaching lacrosse fundamentals and concepts while having FUN. Our goal is that campers of all ages improve their technique in basic skills such as passing, catching, shooting, ground balls and defense, and increase their understanding of the game (aka Lax IQ). Skills and activities will vary by age group and ability. This camp is perfect for those that have never played but are considering taking up lacrosse. It is also a must for the more experienced player that will be a future Bexley HS Lion.
Note: All players must provide their own equipment. Grades 1-4 will be non-contact; players must wear a lacrosse helmet and gloves. Grades 5-7 will be limited contact; players must wear a lacrosse helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, protective cup and mouth guard. Goalies must wear a chest protector, throat guard, protective cup and mouth guard.

Jill Byers Clinic
Bexley Girls Lacrosse is excited to host Jill Byers, who will be leading a clinic for Middle and High School Girls Lacrosse players on June 24, 2021 from 3-4:30pm at Bexley High School Stadium. Girls who have just completed grades 6-11 are welcome to attend. The fee for the clinic is $30, and can be paid via venmo to @BexleyLax43209 (please include in the note: (Player first and last name) Byers Clinic)
Jill Byers Matusz, former Associate Head Coach at The Ohio State University and Notre Dame Lacrosse alum, is the Director for the girls’ program and Head Coach for the 2022 Girls team. Jill is a Long Island native and played at Notre Dame from 2006-2009. A 2009 Tewaaraton Trophy and Honda Award finalist, she produced a historic playing career at Notre Dame, where she graduated as the all-time leader in goals and points and still holds both records 10 years later. A 4x All-American and 2009 team captain, she wrapped up her collegiate playing days ranking fourth in NCAA history in career goals and 10th in points. She set a Big East league record of 78 goals to be named Big East Attack Player of the Year and she was voted the runner-up for Notre Dame’s Female Athlete of the Decade Award. Following college, she coached at Yale University, Notre Dame, Stony Brook University and most recently at The Ohio State University. The Northport, N.Y., native also played for Team USA from 2008-12 and both coached and played professional Lacrosse for the Long Island Sound. Jill is inducted into the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame, Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame and Northport High School Hall of Fame. Jill resides in Boston, MA with her husband Phil, their daughter Kingsley and dog, Kali.
We would love to see as many middle and high school girls as possible at the clinic - this is a fantastic opportunity and we thank Jill for putting this on for our Bexley Lions!

Lacrosse has been a part of Mike’s life for over 40 years, and he has a passion for teaching and giving back to the sport. Mike was a player at Worthington High School and Denison University. He was the architect of the Youth Lacrosse program in Worthington for 15+ years. He has coached at the Youth, Middle School and High School levels. While an Assistant Coach at Worthington Kilbourne High School, he helped lead the Wolves to four straight Ohio Division I State Championship Games, winning the State Championship in 2009. He has coached 10 US Lacrosse All-Americans, three US Lacrosse Academic All-Americans and many players that continued their lacrosse careers at the collegiate level. 2020 was Mike’s first year as the Head Coach at Bexley High School, and he is excited to build a successful lacrosse program at Bexley. Go Lions! ALL IN.
